Regional Executive Board
The Southeastern Regional Executive Board is responsible for the day to day operation of the region.



Darlene M. Whittington
Regional Director
Darlene Whittington currently has the honor of serving as the 28th Regional Director of the Southeastern Region of Jack and Jill. In 2019, she was elected as the Member-at-Large (MAL) and the region’s representative to the National Board of Trustees of the Jack and Jill of America Foundation. Prior to that, she successfully served a 2-year appointment as the Southeastern Region Program Chair with oversight of the regions’ Book Club program, Pen Pal program, oratorical competitions, Childrens’ Cluster meetings, and the annual regional family trip. Darlene has also served as the Southeastern Region representative to the National Policies and Procedures Committee, as Regional Technology Chair and for 2 terms as the Regional Editor. RD Darlene came into Jack and Jill as the Organizer and Chartering President of the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. (GMAC). Under her leadership, GMAC became the first chapter of Jack and Jill to attain the designation of 5 Star Chapter of Excellence. She has subsequently served GMAC in the capacity of Parliamentarian and two-time Co-Chair of the chapter’s signature Leadership Program and Debutante Cotillion, raising over $100,000. Finally, RD Darlene was chosen to participate in both the 3rd and 5th Biennial Marion Stubbs Thomas Leadership Academy.
RD Darlene is a graduate of Spelman College holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry as well as a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University. She has had an award-winning 21-year career in pharmaceutical sales and marketing and currently serves as a Therapeutic Area Manager in Hematology for Genentech Oncology.
RD Darlene has served in various leadership roles within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Nu Lambda Omega Chapter), and as a board member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter). Darlene is also an active member of The Links, Incorporated (Atlanta Chapter). She and her family are active members of the Buckhead Church in Atlanta. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, traveling, photography, crafting and spending time with her husband Delmar, and daughter Skylar (13).

Kornisha M. Brown
27th National President
On August 23, 2020, Kornisha McGill Brown was elected as the 27th National President of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated at the 44th National Convention. Prior to being elected as National President, Kornisha served as the 2017-2019 Regional Director of the Southeastern Region. Kornisha also served as the 2015-2017 Southeastern Regional Secretary, Regional Nominating Committee member for 2 terms, and as Regional Chair of Rules and Regulations. Kornisha was recognized as “Chapter President of the Year” by the Southeastern Region at the 29th Biennial Mothers’ Regional Conference. She has been a member of the Columbus, GA (5-Star) Chapter for 14 years where she served as Chapter President, Chapter Vice-President, and much more.
Kornisha McGill Brown is a graduate of Spelman College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She attended graduate school at Brandeis University and also received a Master of Education Degree in Social Science Education from the University of Georgia and Georgia Teacher Certification 6-12. As an educator, servant leader, small business managing partner, and philanthropist, Kornisha has spent most of her professional and personal life supporting and advocating for the youth in the community. Kornisha is a member of The Links, Incorporated-Columbus, GA Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley, Auxiliary to the Columbus Fort Benning Medical Society, Brookstone School Board of Trustees, Emanuel Preparatory School Board, and the Women’s Giving Circle for the Boys and Girls.
Kornisha is married to Dr. Darius K. Brown, Sr., and they are the very proud parents of two children- Jordan Janay Brown and Darius Brown, Jr. She and her family are active members of New Birth Outreach Church in Columbus, GA.

Sharon January
Regional Secretary
RS Sharon is a charter member of The Greater North Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. she has proudly served in her chapter on numerous committees, Charter Sergeant at Arms, Grade Group Sponsor, Senior Teen Sponsor, and Chapter President. She is the Immediate Past Southeastern Region Editor and Bylaws Chair and is the Immediate Past Southeastern Region representative to the National Constitution & Bylaws Committee. She is a Fellow in the Inaugural Marion Stubbs Leadership Academy, and she was recently elected in July and is currently serving as the Southeastern Regional Secretary. She enjoys the many opportunities the organization has provided for her and her children to serve the community they live in.
RS Sharon graduated in 1990 from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Pre-Med/Zoology and went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She graduated in 1994 with a Doctor of Medicine. She then moved to Atlanta, Ga. to complete her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in 1997. She has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 1997. Her special interest is in Preventive Medicine and Primary Care due to her desire to have longitudinal relationships with her patients. That led to her working clinically in a variety of Primary Care settings including HMO’s, the UCSD VA Hospital where she served as a preceptor for medical students and saw patients clinically, and Community Health clinics. She currently works as an Associate Medical Director in Utilization Review for a large healthcare company. She has always had a heart for service which has influenced her choice of profession and civic affiliations.
RS Sharon was born in Columbia, S.C. and is one of four children. She grew up in a military family which allowed her the opportunity to travel and live in many places. She has been happily married to her husband Michael since 1997. They are the proud parents of Michael, Jr. (23), Wesley (21), Grant (18), and Kennedy (12). She and her family are members of Eagles Nest Church where she serves in the Greeters Ministry. She is a member of National Medical Association, American College of Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians. She enjoys spending time with her family, socializing with friends, watching football, bowling, and playing and watching tennis.

Takeysha Lewis
Member At Large

Takeysha Lewis calls it a blessing and an honor to serve as the Foundation Member at Large for the Sweet, Sweet, Southeastern Region. She is a wife, mother, and dedicated Social Worker in the Macon community and K-12 education. She is a proud member of the Marvelous Macon (GA) Chapter, where she has held membership since 2010. As a member of the Macon Chapter, she has served as Chapter President, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Chapter Editor, Grade Group Lead/Sponsor, Social Committee Chair, Membership Chair, and Five Star Chair. Regionally, she has served as the Regional Community Service Chair and Evaluations Committee Chair during the 31st Biennial Mothers’ Regional Conference, as a member of the Regional Strategic Relevance and Value Committee and the Carole Robertson Memorial Gravesite Beautification Project Committee. She currently serves as the SER Subject Matter Expert for Community Service and Philanthropy on the National Five Star 2.2 Task Force Committee. MAL Takeysha also represents the Southeastern Region on the Jack and Jill of America Foundation Board. She serves as Co-Chair of the Programming Committee and as a member of the HBCU sub-committee. She is the MAL Liaison for our National Partnerships with the National CARES Mentoring Program and the Boys and Girls Club of America.
MAL Takeysha strives to ensure that SER service projects and philanthropic efforts flourish with the overall goal of exposing our moms, children, and teens with opportunities to ensure that we continue to be well equipped to impact the world around us and beyond- through service and philanthropy. With over 20 years of professional experience, MAL Takeysha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) from Fort Valley State University, as well as graduate degrees, Masters Social Work (MSW), and an Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership, both from Valdosta State University. She is a Social Worker by profession with experience working in Community organizations and Non-Profit programming. MAL Takeysha has additional professional experience in grant writing, management, and evaluation and extensive experience working in the Social Services arena with youth and families during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives. She currently serves on boards and committees in her community, including the Macon/Bibb County Child Advocacy Center, Carl D. Thomas Boys and Girls Club Advisory Board, and the Positive Behavior Intervention & Support Leadership Team, which are all dedicated to eliminating barriers and supporting families in reaching their full potential. MAL Takeysha’s passion for service and philanthropy drives her commitment to the community, uplifting families and ALL children to thrive to the best of their abilities. She truly believes that the seeds we plant through our service and philanthropic efforts will ensure that not only our children but ALL children will be inspired and equipped to navigate throughout their lives and be the change that we have so tirelessly worked to see in our world- the best is yet to come!
